Pretending helps. It's like modelling behaviour. Do we want to succeed or fail? No spelling errors found. The fish on the falls, or the bird at the feeder doesn't pretend. They just do. As far as anyone knows. I realize that I have no idea what the motivation is, maybe I need to have a plan, maybe I don't. The squirrels plan on getting a boatload of nuts, and storing what they don't need in places they forget. Then, the nuts, which are seeds, might grow up and make another tree for the squirrels to strip of nuts and drink the bark and make more trees when they bury the nuts in places they forget. The world is chaos, and our attempts to make it all make sense are misguided. Still, like the squirrel and the nuts, we persist, because that is what we do and who we are. Builders and destroyers, compost and consumer, right and wrong. I do like to see things grow.
